Introduction
One restaurant we really like the food is JOEY. As its close by, the location we have always gone to is Don Mills. The address is actually 75 O’Neil Road. It’s in the Shops at Don Mills plaza. JOEY is upscale and the menu choices unique.
History
The very first JOEY restaurant opened in Calgary, AB in 1992. Its ownership is based in Vancouver, BC and its original name was Joey Tomato’s, later changing to Joey Tomato’s Mediterranean Grill and eventually just to JOEY. The chain has grown to 27 locations in Canada and has expanded into the US with locations in California and Washington State. During it’s growth it has added a lot asian dishes to the menu while also maintaining a lot of North American classics. Time to hear about the Don Mills location.
The Facts
Since the social distancing measures began they have gone to curbside pickup. They do have delivery options but we are always into the full experience so we have gone with the curbside pickup. It’s goes very smoothly. We phone in our order, with a vehicle description, and then drive down there. There is no drive thru window. It’s JOEY! We pull up in the valet parking. I still call it fine dining because we park in the valet parking. It is about 20 minutes since phoning in our order when we arrive and within 5 minutes of arriving our order is brought to the car. We pay by debit and are on our way.
It has been the same person every time that has taken the order on the phone and brought the order to us when we arrive. She is extremely friendly. We always enjoy our experience and are happy to support them. I almost forgot to mention they have always gotten the order correct too. No matter how wonderful the experience, getting the order right is still kind of important.
The Fun
OK, so let us get to the food. So what is the first item on the menu we get? If you have read other posts you are probably not surprised it is the Sliders Royale. We also love the Lettuce Wraps with Chicken. If you like spice, they do have some kick. Usually we also include the Chili Chicken and Yam Fries. We highly recommend all of the above.
Although we have not tried any of them yet if you enjoy cooking yourself they are offering more and more meal kits that you can take home and prepare.
After talking about all the food above and it being dinner time, what can I say? I am hungry!
