Introduction

On our way to Montana’s

It is Takeout Wednesday again. OK, it has now gone national and is being called National Takeout Day. Every Wednesday is for helping support your local restaurants through takeout, curb-side or drive thru options. We are definitely all in!

We chose this Wednesday to get takeout from one of favourite haunts for BBQ cuisine, Montana’s located in Richmond Hill.

Normally we dine in at Montana’s but we so love the BBQ food that we are continuing to support them through these changing times and doing takeout.

So onto the history of Montana’s.

History

Montanas, officially Montana’s BBQ and Bar and originally Montana’s Cookhouse, is a Canadian restaurant chain that has a relatively short history.

It came on the scene in 1995 as a subsidiary of Kelsey’s specializing in in-house smoked ribs and having a distinct Western BBQ vibe.

There are over 100 locations across Canada.

Recipe Unlimited(formerly Cara Operations) completed its acquisition of Montana’s along with Kelsey’s in 2002. Since 2015 Montana’s has under gone the rebranding to Montana’s BBQ and Bar.

Next up the all important facts.

The Facts

MONTANAS RIB DINNER

As mentioned in the video this location is just a short trip on the 404 and 407 for us. We like this location as it has easy access off of High Tech Road(although the address is 8735 Yonge Street) and there is never a shortage of parking.

For the takeout we phoned in our order and completed payment at the same time. Ordering and payment can also be done through their apps or website.

When you arrive you phone them and they will bring your order out to you maintaining distancing at all times.

It was a very smooth experience and they are extremely friendly. Our food was amazing and the order was perfect.

Now, onto the fun!

The Fun

DOUBLE ONION BACON CHEESEBURGER
Double onion bacon cheeseburger

More often than not we usually all order something different and share but this time Lee and I both decided to try the new Double Onion Bacon Cheeseburger.

Ruth went with the signature Texas bold back ribs. Ruth ordered sweet potato fries, Lee french fries and I ordered the onion rings. Like I said we do this and share. We get the best of each world this way.

It goes with out saying that all of above has our seal of approval!

While we were at it we also ordered a couple of jars of their BBQ sauce. We got one of the Texas Bold and one of the Apple Butter flavour. They do make awesome BBQ sauce.

For some reason the drive home seemed longer than the drive there. I fully anticipated once we got home I would have to fight off Ruth and Lee to take photos before they started eating. I however, didn’t anticipate I would have to fight them off in the car on the way home as they wanted to get into the food before ever reaching home. I must say, I can’t blame them as the aroma of Sweet BBQ wafted through the mini van. It was, for sure, eating away at any will power that still existed.

We are definitely doing this one again!

    1. It is a wonderful and mild BBQ flavour that I really love. Their web site(montanas.ca) does not say anything about shipping products but I did find this toll free number for their guest relations that you could call and enquire(1-844-729-7830).

  2. Excuse me while I go fix myself something to eat. My mouth is watering with the thought of a wonderful take-out burger!

  3. I tried a new recipe for sweet potato fries last week. I haven’t tried tackling BBQ yet, though. I’m sure the takeout variety would be WAY better than anything I would create in the kitchen!!

    1. It is a phrase we started hearing locally after things changed in March. It is now gaining national traction in Canada as National Takeout Day.
