Introduction

Yesterday we felt in the mood for something a little different. A place that always seems to deliver when we are feeling this way is Milestones and that is where this adventure leads us.

History

The first Milestones opened in downtown Vancouver in 1989 and it has grown to now over 40 locations spread throughout 6 provinces in Canada.

The official name is Milestones Grill and Bar. Like other restaurant chains it has undergone change in ownership over time.

In 2002, Cara which is now known as Recipe Unlimited, acquired Milestones. After this point expansion into eastern Canadian Cities was much more rapid.

Like other restaurants Milestones has a certain approach or aim in terms of the demographic that they are geared towards. Let me tell you about that next.

Milestones prides itself on providing you with a place that is different than other casual fine dining establishments. From the menu to the people oriented atmosphere it is a little different and focused on delivering good times for all.

As the name suggests it is a good place to celebrate milestones.

Although there are multiple locations that are convenient for us our travels yesterday had us at Scarborough Town Centre mall to do some shopping. It just so happens to be home to a Milestones location. Despite the address of 300 Borough Drive, which is the mall address, it is most easily accessed off of Progress Avenue just west of McCowan Road.

Although we could have phoned in our takeout order in advance we just walked in and placed our order since we were already there.

We were surprised at how fast it was for us to be leaving with our food. I will elaborate more as I talk about the fun below.

The Fun

Sweet Chili Chicken Bowl

Given are travels yesterday brought us so close to Milestones and how fast it was for getting our takeout we actually filmed our video with the food with us in the car. That was a challenge.

Kudos to all for not attacking the food in the middle of the filming and especially to Ruth for keeping a steady hand while doing the camera work.

There are so many interesting choices on the menu we had a challenge deciding what to order. In the end Lee and I both went for the Sweet Chili Chicken Bowl, a combination including sweet chili crispy chicken, rice, vegetables and wonton.

Ruth decided to go for the Thai Basil Noodles, a combination including chicken, shrimp, egg, vegetables, noodles and peanut sauce.

The aroma drifting through the van was tempting us to just start eating in the parking lot but we mustered major will power to get home and get a couple of photos before diving in to dinner. Both dishes were amazing.

I think our consensus all around was “delicious with a kick”. As is usual for us when it comes to Milestones we each ordered something different that our last visit.

It’s all about being a little different.

  4. I think I would love the Thai basil noodles! They look absolutely delicious! Tell Ruth I finally bought a mini tripod to help my not-so-steady hand. 😀

  5. I don’t usually watch videos of people talking because I’m hard of hearing and miss a lot of what’s being said. Yet your post got me curious so I watched your video. Thank you so much for including closed captioning!!! It really means a lot to us who are hearing impaired. The food looks yummy too.
